I've playing around with sIFR (v2, v3 and jquery plugins) because I really love the concept behind it.
After some tests and fights I found sIFR-lite.
Dave at allcrunchy.com did a stunning job, and the result is a light-weight sIFR library (about 4k) that works better than the original, at least for me. Faster, lighter, better.
I decided to make some improvements to make it more flexible while keeping it super compact.
This version includes:
- Fixed a bug with Flash Player 10+ (thanks to a comment from Patrick)
- CSS text alignment is now supported
Please refer to the homepage of sIFR-lite for the documentation.
I do not take the full credits of sIFR or sIFR lite; the aim of this project is only to provide an alternative version with some bug-fixes, and some new features not included in the original.
Anyway... I'll be posting updates here, any input is welcome!

Gyo,
This is awesome! Thanks for the update via the Imulus blog, I'm not sure I'd have found your work without it. Either way, very cool, I'll make sure to recommend your solution in the future!
Cheers,
Bruce

Hello, I have just tested your stuff and got error on special characters, like éáóúőü. Do you have any idea how to solve this?

Hi gabor,
Sometimes you have to manually embed the characters you need into the FLA, please try it by editing the textbox (if you didn't).
Also make sure the font you have choosen does have the characters you need.
Bye and thanks for coming here!

Hello, is there a solution available to display an on hover color change and background color change using SIFR Llite?
I created a function that first removes the flash, changes the class of the container, and the re-writes the flash to the element. Although this works, it's not ideal, and not easily maintainable. If there could be some way to read the css hover styling and automagically pass those into the flash that would be great
thanks,
Justin

@Justin: you're right, and currently it's in the to-do list!
I don't know when it will be possible for me to release a new version tho, cause I'm very busy.
Thanks!

Is anyone having an issue when rendering text with sIFR Lite, that their links don't work? I had a text based nav menu that worked beautifully prior to my implementing sIFR Lite. Help!

The links are a bit buggy, that's why I normally used sIFR only for headlines without any links.
Anyway, I strongly suggest you to switch from sIFR to the awesome CSS only solution: @font-face

Hope it helps!

Thanks for your suggestion. It works brilliantly and is much easier to implement than the sIFR alternatives. Why would you use sIFR if a pure CSS method is available? I'm interested to know the pros and cons.
Cheers & many thanks!
